Paul Mignogna is the founder of furniture company Stillmade, a producer of contemporary wood furniture. After a 5-year woodworking apprenticeship, Mignogna started the company from a Brooklyn, NY, workshop in 2012. His vision for Stillmade was that of fine wood furniture with modern details. Under Mignogna's direction, Stillmade makes tables, chairs, beds and other furniture pieces from the finest American hardwoods, including walnut, oak, ash and cherry. Each piece is finished with a combination of oil and wax to enhance the wood and protect against damage from moisture and daily use. A popular example of Stillmade furniture is the Tripod Table, a mid-century modern design, with legs of American black walnut and a solid Italian marble top. Paul Mignogna also does Scandinavian-inspired furniture designs through Stillmade, such as the Ash Paper Cord Stool. This table has hand-turned legs and a seat handwoven from Danish cord. The firm still produces furniture in the Brooklyn, NY, workshop where the company started, with tours available for those who want to see its creative process in action. Many of the modern tables, accent chairs and other pieces from this company are custom-made to client specifications. The company also has lighting and decorative objects as part of its current product line.
