Ora Ito is a French designer known for his modern furniture, which he describes as futuristic and minimal. He has been ranked by Wallpaper as one of the 40 most influential designers under age 40. In addition to his work in furniture design, Ora Ito is well known in the art world. In 2013, Ito created the art centre MAMO, which is located on the roof terrace of Le Corbusier's Cité Radieuse in Marseille, France. Born in 1977, Ito gained notoriety at age 19 when he created a virtual studio. Many people thought the products were real and flooded Ito’s website attempting to purchase them. Ito has collaborated with numerous international luxury brands, including Swatch and Davidoff. Ora Ito has a line of furniture through French retailer Roche Bobois, with pieces that include modern cocktail tables, dining tables, and sideboards. The standout piece from Ora Ito's portfolio is the Dining Table (2012), a cantilevered spiral of plastic and metal legs with a tempered glass top and a mirrored base. This organic work is an example of Ito's hallmark "simplexity," and won the prestigious Red Dot Best of the Best Award. Ito also makes chairs, such as the Eva Office Chair, a molded polyurethane shell with cutouts that can be ordered with three different lower sections: a round steel base with single pillar support, a five-point aluminum base, or a rolling form on metal casters. This chair also comes with optional upholstery in full-grain Nappa leather from Pelle. Designed for Zanotta, these have a minimalist futuristic look that sets Ito’s creations apart. The design is fashionable and functional since these chairs are ergonomically designed and highly adjustable. Like all of Ito's work, they are produced in France.
