Jean-Marie Massaud

Born in 1966 in Toulouse, France, Jean-Marie Massaud is a French furniture designer, inventor, and architect. In his words, he has “run a quest for synthesis, reduction, and lightness since his first intuitions.” Massaud has collaborated with brands such as Lancôme, Dedon, B&B Italia, Cassina, and Poltrona Frau. His awards have included a “Red Dot Design Award” in 2015 for Massaud Lounge Seating, which was a collaboration with Coalesse Contemporary Office Furniture. Massaud's furniture designs can be seen in design museums in Amsterdam, London, Lisbon, Paris, Zurich, and Chicago. Massaud is a 1990 graduate of the École Nationale Supérieur de Création Industrielle - Les Ateliers, Paris (ENSCI). After graduating, he began collaborating with Marc Berthier, who is known for furniture design, architecture, and consumer electronics. In 2000, he co-founded the Studio Massaud with Daniel Pouzet, a furniture designer and architect, and continued his artistic journey to also include architecture and product development. Some of his famous designs include the Jazz Sofa, Aki Chair, Easy Block Sofa System, and Islands Seating System, among many others. Massaud’s designs continue to excite, innovate, and elevate the contemporary and Post-Modern world.
