Jaime Hayon

Designer Jaime Haydon was born in Madrid in 1974. He immersed himself in skateboard and graffiti culture when he was in his teens, and that whimsical and carefree vibe has played a large role in his approach to his work. After completing his education in industrial design in Madrid and Paris, Hayon joined Fabrica, a design and communication academy in Treviso, Italy. There, he worked under the tutelage of Oliviero Toscani and was eventually promoted to head of the design department. Returning to Spain, Hayon focused his energy on his own projects -- first designer toys, ceramics and furniture, and later interior design and installations. He is recognized internationally as a gifted and original designer and has many awards to prove it: “Best Installation” by Icon magazine, “Breakthrough Creator” by Wallpaper magazine, Elle Deco International Design Awards in 2006 and 2012, Elle Deco Germany “Best International Designer” in 2008,  “Designer of the Year” by AD Russia in 2009, Maison&Objet Designer of the Year in 2010, and numerous other honors. Hayon has collaborated with such companies as Baccarat, Swarovski, Choemon, Bosa Ceramiche, Lladro, Fritz Hansen, Magis, Bisazza, B.D. Barcelona and many more. The designer’s creations blur the lines between art, decoration and design in finely-crafted and detailed objects that reflect contemporary design culture. His studio is based in Valencia, Spain with additional offices in Barcelona and Treviso. Hayon describes his approach this way: “It is important to remember that my design is made for humans – to be used by humans. I believe that design should provoke emotions. Design should make you feel good. Create happiness.”
