Irwin Feld brings nearly 40 years of experience to his role as owner and creative director at CF Modern, the New York City-based company he founded. The luxury brand, established in 2011, offers unique pieces that are hand-made to order and tailored to clients’ specifications, with everything designed and fabricated in New York City. Included in the collection are upholstered items, case goods, tables, lighting and art objects. The firm’s showroom is located in the prestigious New York Design Center at 200 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. Feld started his career in the fashion industry and, inspired by a collaboration with French designer Chantal Thomass, taught himself how to design textiles and prints. He then joined his wife Marcy in her fashion jewelry business, designing pieces that found markets all over the world. In 1997, Feld turned his attention to his real passion, home and interior design. His initial project, a nursery school renovation, won him much-deserved recognition and solidified his reputation as a skilled and talented design professionals. When he later became the proprietor of an antique shop in Stamford, Connecticut, Feld was able to hone and perfect his mid-century aesthetic. He was soon producing pieces for the luxury furniture market, reinventing and putting his own creative twist on forms and shapes originally introduced by renowned 20th-century furniture designers. He now focuses exclusively on mid-century pieces that are fully customizable in dimension, material and finish. CF Modern’s collections include stools, ottomans, benches, sofas, end tables, coffee tables, credenzas, dressers, chairs, chandeliers, sconces, lamps, mirrors and more. Fifteen different finishes are available, from light brown and blonde cerused oak to dark walnut and zebrawood.
