David Phoenix

David Phoenix is an American interior designer celebrated for his unique perspective that blends classic design with relaxed luxury. Phoenix established his firm in the 1990s and began serving an elite clientele, ranging from high-level public officials to royalty. He has been deemed one of America’s Top Young Designers by House Beautiful magazine, earned the Star of Design award in interior design from the Pacific Design Center and was named an honorable appointee of the State Historical Resources Commission of California. One of Phoenix’s best-known works is his Bel Air Project, which was awarded Ultimate Home of the Year in 2011. In addition, his work has been featured in numerous media outlets such as Traditional Home, Veranda and LUXE magazine. Phoenix’s style is sometimes referred to as “California Elegant,” and his sense of livable luxury comes through in his unique approach that makes his spaces both welcoming and uplifting. Influenced by a variety of different styles and time periods, Phoenix uses a creative assortment of pieces in projects to retain a polished, graceful feel. Phoenix's refined aesthetic can be seen in his armchairs, chairs with ottomans, desks, bookcases and stools. Most recently, he has also collaborated with Hickory Chair to create his own designs. The furniture line includes sofas, cocktail tables, dining chairs, lounge chairs, counter and bar stools, end and bedside tables, floor lamps, settees, pedestals, dining tables, as well as smaller accents such as bookends, nesting trays, candle holders and mirrors. Some items in his Hickory Chair collection can be customized for personal preferences: for example, wood furniture can be additionally distressed or seating made to individual measurements. Another successful collaboration, with Kravet, has produced a tasteful assortment of furnishing fabrics that include handsome plaids, sophisticated stripes and polished checks.
