Design is in Celerie Kemble’s DNA. The design luminary and author was raised visiting construction sites, antique stores, and homes designed by her mother, Mimi McMakin, who founded Kemble Interiors in 1982. Celerie joined the firm shortly after graduating from Harvard, and for over two decades has brought her own unique sense of whimsy and charm to both residential and commercial interiors. Her cultivated portfolio of much publicized work reveals a love of color, loads of personality, and above all else—comfortable, warm spaces with soul. Celerie’s interiors reflect a can-do, approachable attitude towards decorating, but one that is extremely well-informed. Vintage and antique pieces mingle seamlessly with new, custom-made ones for a look that’s dressy but casual. It’s no surprise, then, that the talent has been tapped to collaborate on multiple product lines with some of the most respected brands in the industry. She’s produced modern patio furniture for Lane Venture, playful hanging lights and table lamps for Arteriors, area rugs for Merida, and even lounge chairs, wall mirrors, and side tables for Henredon. Her popular home-decorating collections reflect the designer’s distinguished, inimitable style.
