Wisteria was founded in 2000 by husband-and-wife team Andrew and Shannon Newsom. It began as a small, home-based operation inspired by their love of travel. Today, the company has two stores and offices in three countries, along with 100 employees. One of the standout collections from Wisteria is Rare Birds, which contains artisan and vintage furniture from around the world. Offerings include everything from antique Chinese cabinets to hand-beaded African armchairs. Wisteria also has contemporary furnishings such as the Hair-on-Hide Stools, which have sturdy steel frames and are upholstered in real hand-stitched cowhide. There are also pieces inspired by early 20th-century Swedish design, such as the Modern Edwardian Teak Chair, featuring a linen upholstered seat and a sleek teak frame. The Whitewashed Parapet Chest is an example of one of their pieces inspired by Greek and Roman architecture, with a detailed dentil molding and a classic white finish. Some furnishings from Wisteria are inspired by French farmhouse style, such as the Serpentine Bench. It has elegant curves and an ash wood frame with luxurious linen upholstery. In addition to furniture, this upscale brand also offers mirrors and wall art. There are classic choices like the Gold Leaf Tapered Round Mirror, along with showy styles such as the Layered Sunburst Mirror. As defined above, Wisteria’s furnishings and accents don’t fit into one style category as they’re inspired by everything from French gardens to rustic farmhouses and mid-century modern designs, making each of their pieces timeless.
