Niche Modern is renowned for its contemporary light fixtures, all of which are handmade and custom-blown in the Hudson Valley. The firm has earned numerous accolades and global recognition. Niche Modern’s Helio Pack-9 received the Best Modern Chandelier honor at the 2015 Interior Design Best of Year Awards. Their pendant lighting warms the lobby of the Grand Hyatt Denver, the interior of the Little Saigon restaurant in east London, the dining room of Stockholm's elegant Torsgatan 21 eatery and the bar at its Miss Clara boutique hotel. Notably, over 60 of its lights are situated inside The Table at Crate, the first restaurant from home goods retailer Crate & Barrel. The idea for Niche Modern began when Jeremy Pyles and Mary Welch opened a home furnishings store in New York City in 2003. When the pair had trouble finding an attractive lighting display for the storefront, Pyles designed a glass pendant on a whim and had it expertly blown by a local glassworker. They called the finished product “Stamen” and hung it in the store. Although not available for purchase, Stamen became the store's most popular product, quickly generating tremendous customer interest. The demand inspired Pyles and Welch to form Niche Modern. Today, the company utilizes simple elements with clean lines and vibrant colors to craft bold, fashion-forward lighting solutions for homes and businesses around the world. Niche Modern offers 20 pendant options in different shapes, including orbs, ovals, bells, globes and columns. Each piece is first conceived in the company’s Beacon, NY, glass studio, then hand-blown and polished to perfection. Discerning clients with an appreciation for unique, innovative and timeless lighting trust in the unparalleled quality and artisanship offered by Niche Modern.
