De Sede

Founded in 1962 in Klingnau, Switzerland by Ernst Lüthy, a master saddler, de Sede now produces more than 11,500 pieces of furniture annually. The company has grown to employ over a hundred individuals at its factory in Klingnau and has weathered a series of acquisitions and mergers. The modern de Sede AG, owned by Volare AG, is run by owner Monika Walser and Volare Group AG primary shareholder Daniel Sieber. The company maintains its emphasis on high-quality craftsmanship using sophisticated upholstering technology and expert leather-cutting techniques. de Sede creates bespoke, built-in-furniture and custom pieces for luxury estates, yachts, vacation homes, public spaces and commercial buildings. Clients that envision a specific sofa, lounge, office chair or dining room table can work with de Sede to turn the concept into handcrafted reality. The company's best-selling leather sofas provide a twist on the traditional cubic design, with low backrests that fold up for comfort, while the popular Tatzelwurm is a snake-like, flexibly modular piece crafted from fine leather or soft velour. One sofa in this line earned the world record for the longest piece of furniture. de Sede's distinctive furniture is also sustainably designed and manufactured with a commitment to environmental responsibility.
