Blue Carreon Home
Blue Carreon began his career in design as a fashion writer, reporting on the latest styles and trends for Tatler in the Philippines and Hong Kong. Educated in interior design, he became an influential lifestyle blogger for a global audience. In 2014, he founded Blue Carreon Home, a brand of luxe home decor and accessories. Grounded in a belief that architecture and fashion are closely intertwined, Carreon's designs draw heavily from his fashion sense and from a curiosity about the sites where art history and popular culture intersect. Blue Carreon Home designs are handcrafted in the Philippines and feature materials commonly found there, such as mother of pearl shells, stone and shagreen. There is also an Art Deco-inspired line of items, including bookends, coasters, serving trays and more. Crushed shell is used to add color to a range of pieces, from pagoda-shaped boxes to whimsical bear sculptures. In addition, Blue Carreon Home makes liberal use of solid stone and polished brass. Their most famous recent works are elegant realistic brass lobster and ant paperweights. These desk sculptures use details of black pen shell and mother of pearl that allows light to play off the natural lines, transforming the intricate animals into pieces of art. This same craft ethic can be seen on a larger scale in Blue Carreon Home's furniture design: simple side tables and seats take on the form of agate trefoils like the Alhambra stool and brass pie diagrams featured in the Pie Stool. Using fine materials and design, Blue Carreon elevates the functional into sculpture for the home.
