Italian furniture company B&B Italia was founded by the Busnelli family in 1966 and continued as a family operation until Giorgio Busnelli's decision to retire in 2019. Today, Gilberto Negrini serves as CEO of the company. B&B Italia is well-recognized for the sleek, minimalistic look of its modern sofas, chairs and tables. This aspect is especially seen in the Charles Sofa: made in collaboration with designer Antonio Citterio, it was inspired by and named for famed American maker Charles Eames. Designer Zaha Hadid collaborated on the futuristic Moon System Sofa, notable for its sculpted, architectural look. The Maxalto Collection features furniture that blends ‘50s and ‘60s design with contemporary elements — a look the company describes as “New Classic.” Moving beyond furniture, the B&B Italia Object Collection includes pillows, rugs, lighting, vases and other home accent items to add refinement to any space. B&B Italia's Contract division presents themes for commercial clients and often furnishes hotels, restaurants and cruise ships. As with the company's residential furnishings, the B&B Italia Contract pieces center around what is modern, beautiful and alluring; they elevate any space with their signature design.
