Thousands of designers, editors, and aficionados from across the world were abuzz at LA’s annual LEGENDS event at La Cienega Design Quarter from May 7 to May 9. Inspired by keynote speakers and panelists, and fortified with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and mingling all week, attendees were treated with two very special Sotheby’s Home happenings: an exclusive teaser of A+E’s latest design show, Working The Room and a new way to go showroom hopping with The Design Dash game.

Monday kicked off with a superstar-studded bang at Fred Segal, with notables such as Thom Filicia, Jill Waage (editor in chief of Traditional Home), and the designers from A+E’s Working The Room, Nathan Turner, Mat Sanders, and Tiffany Riggle. The evening began with drinks and conversation, as guests got to see firsthand the before-and-after videos of the room makeovers for Working The Room, with further insights contributed during the panel by the three designers. As a bonus, attendees were treated to surprise appearances by the clients themselves, who offered their own insights on how the show changed their perspectives on interior design.

To celebrate this year’s theme, “Icons of Design,” attendees listened to panels by two living legends, Bunny Williams and Suzanne Rheinstein. And they were mesmerized by the vignettes across the LCDQ created by the likes of Massucco Warner Miller and Alex Papachristidis, among others, to honor design pioneers such as Billy Baldwin and Elsie de Wolfe.

Tuesday held no rest for the weary, as the morning began with a Breakfast in Bed announcement by Patrick Dragonette at Kreiss: attendees were challenged to The Design Dash, where participants competed for prizes such as gift cards from Alfred’s Tea, Blushington makeovers, and luxury totes from yours truly. The goal was to earn the most stickers on their maps of LCDQ by visiting the 45+ showrooms. The dash lasted through Thursday, giving out top prizes such as Phaidon’s Interiors: The Greatest Rooms of the Century and $500 in LCDQ dollars.
