Whether we’re talking about the richly hued tables that are associated with the Chinoiserie look or perky mid-century pieces in colors that pop, lacquered furniture and accessories have always been considered “in”.
Designers love adding a little bit of lacquer to an interior because the shining finish adds an unexpected textural element to a space, but also brings an extra depth to the color of the item in question. Though you could go bold by opting to lacquer the walls of the room (Ã la the decadent interiors of Miles Redd), it’s much easier – and faster – to add a few select pieces to a room. Here are a few of our favorite lacquered décor currently available at Viyet (fittingly, all from The Lacquer Company).
The graphic form of this teal side table could go mod or postmodern, depending on your design sensibilities. The cutout sides introduce a new shape to the room, but also help keep the look light.
Lacquered finishes also pair well with others. The ebonized hardwood base of this table helps tone down the shiny finish of the lacquered drawer unit.
Lacquer finishes also pair beautifully with metallic colors, since they both have that gleaming look. The deep black lacquer of this dresser contrasts with the gold banded details, drawing the eye up and across the piece.
The shining finish of lacquer also gives a bolder quality to softer colors, like the gray hue of this sculptural box. At 12″ in height, the box makes a great accessory to a bookcase or side table.
A little bit of lacquer can go a long way, which is why lacquered trays remain such a popular accessory. You can try out the look without committing to a bigger piece. Plus, you can never have too many trays – they corral clutter into a neat vignette, or can be called into use as a serving piece.
