The secret to finding the best antiques is knowing where to find them. If you can’t make it to an auction or don’t have the energy to find a diamond in the rough at an estate sale, your next best bet is an antiques show. There, you have the luxury of browsing a wide range of antiques purveyors from high-end dealers down to individual sellers. However, there can be a big difference in quality from market to market. Plan ahead with our list of favorite antiques markets from around the country.

Brimfield Antique Show

A longtime favorite for designers and top visual merchandisers for high-end brands, this Massachusetts market is a big deal. There’s a ton of ground to cover, but with three weeks of shows (May 9-14, July 11-16, Sept 5-10), you have plenty of chances to find the perfect treasure.

Round Top Antiques Fair

A favorite for 49 years, this sprawling antiques fair is a must-visit. Timing is everything – because of the Texas heat, the fair is held twice a year (March 27-April 1, then Sept 25-30).

Sunday at Sandwich Antiques Show

Managed by a team of seasoned antiques dealers, this Illinois show is attended by serious collectors and casual browsers. It’s an easy place to spend a Sunday, especially since the fairgrounds are easy to navigate (one side is for crafts and newer items, the other for genuine vintage and antiques).

Alameda Point Antiques Faire

Take in views of San Francisco as you browse this 800-dealer show. You can find a well-curated selection of everything from Art Deco furniture to antique textiles, all on the first Sunday of each month.

Brooklyn Flea

Vintage artisanal goods and handmade gifts are the specialty of this quirky market, held every Saturday and Sunday.

Scott Antique Markets

It’s definitely the thrill of the hunt at Scott Antique Markets, which are held in Atlanta, Georgia, plus two locations in Ohio. The market is huge, with dealers specializing in everything from antique furniture to jewelry. In Atlanta, the show is held the second weekend of every month, year-round.

Woodbury Antiques & Flea Market

Woodbury, Connecticut is already well-known by collectors for its many antique shops, so make a weekend of visiting the area. The Antiques & Flea Market is held every Saturday year-round (and Sunday from March-November).

Antiques at The Gardens

Set in the gorgeous Birmingham Botanical Gardens, this autumn antiques show (held Oct 6-8) supports a great cause – educational programs at The Gardens. Tastemakers and antiques dealers offer an unparalleled selection of higher-end finds.
