Style runs in the family for Ashley Stark-Kenner, the senior vice president of design for the legendary STARKAshley‘s grandfather is, of course, the incomparable Arthur Stark, who founded the company in 1938. She grew up accompanying her mother on visits to estate sales, auctions, and buying trips to Europe, which exposed her to exotic design from around the world. Her impeccably dressed grandmother, who would fly to Paris for the couture shows, gave her an incredible education in the world of fashion. And one of her closest friends? None other than the fashion icon Iris Apfel.

Though such influences gave her a broad range of inspiration to draw from, Ashley has a recognizable style that’s all her own. In an interview with JWS Interiors, she called her aesthetic “’timeless traditional’ with a touch of livable modern.” It’s a fresh sensibility that makes Ashley one of the biggest influencers in the world of design. You can see for yourself in these photos from Ashley‘s recent book Decorating with Carpets: A Fine Foundation, which she co-authored with her cousin Chad Stark, the senior vice president at STARK.
